Is PLA actually plastic?

Classified as a 100% biobased plastic, PLA is derived from renewable resources such as maize or sugar cane. The fermentation of starch or sugar, extracted from these same renewable resources, results in the production of lactic acid. This lactic acid is then transformed into a monomer: lactide.

PLA+ is an augmented version of PLA. PLA+ contains additives and modifiers that make it stronger and tougher, with better layer-to-layer adhesion than conventional PLA. While those additives make for a more useful material, they also make PLA+ more expensive. Some PLA+ filaments can have more than 1 color and you can observe the rich color combination performance from different angles of multi color PLA filament.
